About Us
Welcome to the Sauk Prairie Youth Hockey Association! We take immense pride in fostering the love and passion for hockey among children aged 4 to 14 in our community. As a dedicated organization, our primary goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where young athletes can thrive both on and off the ice. Through our comprehensive programs, we strive to develop not only exceptional hockey skills but also invaluable life lessons such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. With a team of experienced coaches and volunteers, we are committed to nurturing a lifelong appreciation for the sport, instilling confidence, and creating lasting memories. At Sauk Prairie Youth Hockey Association, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to play and grow in the game they love.
Association History
“We started the association in 1982 because the only skating available for kids was the flooded parking lot at the baseball field. Little kids and big kids were all on the ice skating with kids playing hockey around them. It was not safe and there was an interest in organized hockey.
Fauhn (Breunig), Jayne (Carlson) and I spent the summer on Fauhn's picnic table planning all that we needed. We got old boards from somewhere up North and old yellow and black short sleeve jerseys that Jayne sewed sleeves onto. Dad’s took turn flooding the rink at night. From there, hockey just grew and grew in this town!”
- Margaret Mauch, one of the 3 hockey moms who founded the Tri-County Hockey Association (later to be named Sauk Prairie Youth Hockey Association) in 1982
